In preparation for Season 10, I am of course rewatching Season 9. And it hurts more this time around to watch it, but I’ve noticed something. It seems to me that after Dean takes on the Mark and Sam sees him with the blade, here, Sam’s tone towards Dean changes. Nothing is said, really, between them, but Sam begins to ask more and more about how Dean is doing (much to Dean’s disgust), but the way he looks at him is more caring, again. And here, Sam is watching Dean and telling him to put down the blade. What a transformation! Dean goes from his desire to kill to hearing Sam then turning to look at him
Even as the mark begins to consume Dean, and his desire to destroy Abaddon increases and he pulls away from Sam, it is then that Sam draws nearer to Dean and seeks to keep near him, telling Dean he could use his help, encouraging Dean to work together, and no longer treating Dean like it’s just the job. It’s like Sam was already sorry, and knew it was too late. Like Gadreel says in Meta Fiction that Sam is full of shame. Some, perhaps from what he’s said to Dean.
was that a flip off
That was a flip off.
